Family,
It was another good, long, hard week! Here's how it went
Monday-
We had zone P day in Topeka and it was fun being able to play some
basketball and volleyball with the other missionaries! After that we
stopped at the Bones home on the way back for dinner. They have recently
began to return to activity are facing some struggles because their 16
year old daughter got raped.. but they are relying on the Lord and are
staying strong. Once we got back to Falls City we visited Betty and
Roderick who are less active. Betty is about 60 and can't go to church
every week because she has some health issues and Roderick is her son
who is about 40 who has some mental health issues and really probably
has the mind set of a 12 year old. We go over there to read from the
Book of Mormon with Roderick and he is getting a lot better at reading.
He's a really funny guy and it's always fun to go over there
.
Tuesday-
We met some new potentials today and visited some less actives. We met
with Teresa and Carol, two of our progressing investigators, and those
both went well. We started teaching this new family recently, the
Coopers. They have been through some hard times with their daughter who
lives with them just getting out of an abusive relationship and are glad
to be thinking about God and church again. Brother Carrillo went out on
team ups with us tonight. He's a funny, toothless Mexican guy who loves
to come out with us. We met some weird Tommy guy who was a referral and
had once been a member of the church. He told us he believed in his
heart Jesus died for him but he knew it was all some scam and that his
whole death was faked and that his body is in Rome now and he has
descendants living on the earth today.
Wednesday-
We did service this morning. Picked up garbage and sticks for like 2
hours... I loved doing that sooo much! It was SUPER fun.. haha after
that we did mostly finding new investigators. It was super warm out so
everyone was out and about and we were able to talk to lots of people.
We met the Cooper's parents walking around on the street and they told
us they were so happy they were teaching their kids and granddaughter.
They said they had been praying for someone outside of their family to
help their granddaughter get back into church and stuff after all her
struggles. Pretty cool! A recent convert named Wayne fed us some grub
and it was a good day! OH and we taught some girl that had an awesome
Halo spartan helmet.
Thursday-
Did some more service today for the city, going around and getting
serial numbers from people's irrigation pipes. That was pretty easy and
wasn't so monotonous as the service from the day before. We met with
Carol again and had a good lesson with her. The main struggle with her
is getting her out to church. We had a lot of missed appointments after
that and the Coopers dropped us. I was pretty bummed because they told
us they had really liked getting closer to God and everything. As we
went to the next house and I was swallowed up in the depths of humility,
we met some new kid who was just hanging out there. As Elder Stopper
talked to the people that lived there I was able to talk to this kid,
teach him the Restoration, and set him on date! That was pretty darn
cool! We played some ball with some kids at the park and are going to
teach 2 of them and their families now!
Friday-
Another warm day with lots of street contacting and new investigators.
We met Colton's dad and are going to teach him and his family now too!
One of the people we were teaching before, Rose, went to jail and got
out so we were able to teach her some more today. The Rasmussens fed us
dinner and then we went and read with Roderick again.
Saturday-
Met with some potentials today but nothing really major happened there.
We met some kid who has apparently already been baptized somewhere else
and just moved here so now we are trying to get him to come out to
church! We met with Teresa again and had a really good lesson with her.
She has been reading the pamphlets and loves them! She said she'd be
baptized today if she didn't have so much contention with her 18 year
old son. He's a punk and they argue a lot because he has people over
that he isn't supposed to because they are dealing drugs and it's just a
mess. He loves us though so we are trying to work on him but he really
is just way too prideful. But Teresa really likes are branch Presidents
wife Sister Larsen and she has shown to be such a good fellowship to her
and it's helped a lot!
Sunday-
Teresa came to church! She liked it a lot. We had to spend a lot of
time babysitting her 11 year old handicapped son who is all over the
place! That was interesting! After church we just met with all less
actives for the rest of the day and had some good meetings with them! It
started getting really cold again these last couple days and is
supposed to stay cold and rainy all week! Bummer
Everything is going good and I love you all!
