We
had another great week! We just found out that Elder Potter is going to
be leaving which is pretty sad I liked serving with him he's a great
missionary! I'm going to be staying in the area and I will be training a
new missionary! Kind of crazy. I can't wait to break him into the
mission life! Well here's how our week went.
Monday-We just had a pretty normal P Day and then had FHE up on post.
Tuesday-We
had district meeting and then saw Samone and taught him the Plan of
Salvation then read the story of Ammon with Rodney because his favorite
story is about Samson in the bible and we thought he would like a good
hero from the BoM. We saw Candy and her husband John and talked to them
about the necessity of the Book of Mormon and Priesthood authority in a
church and got them to commit to read and pray about coming to church.
We met a couple new potentials and briefly saw Katherine and Dorian to
find out why they didn't come to church. Apparently they got busy.
Wednesday-We taught a guy named Michael who we met last week
the Restoration. He said he was looking for a church and that he
believed everything we shared with him. We couldn't get him to commit to
come to church or a baptismal date but we'll keep working with him. We
met with another guy named Leslie who was a former investigator. He's
not really all there and a heavy smoker but said he's in the process of
quitting. We committed him to be baptized Aug 16th. We went over later
in the evening to give John a blessing. He's about to have a loop reader
put in for his heart and was feeling a little uneasy about it.
Thursday-We went and saw another former named Jessica and
started to teach her about the Plan of Salvation. She is really
interested but her husband who is a less active member doesn't really
like us to come over. But we set an appointment to come back next week
and finish teaching it to her! We met with a couple other people,
nothing too mentionable. Had a pretty nice discussion with a very nice
religious lady named Lyndsie. We saw Gary and had some dinner there.
He's doing great and is really excited to learn more in the new member
lessons! We saw Sean again and had a really good lesson with him. He
read some of the Book of Mormon and was telling us all about what he
read and then we watched the Restoration video with him. He's really
coming along.
Friday-We went on exchanges today. I went with Elder Hulse.
He's a cool guy from Logan, UT. We saw some less active guy named Bill
and tried to have a religious discussion with him but he just kept
talking about politics... We saw John to see how his surgery went and
he's doing great! We finally were able to see Andre again and we read 2
Nephi 31 with him and talked about baptism. He smokes and lives with his
girlfriend but he does want to be baptized. Just sometime in the
not-so-near future. We had Brother Locklear take us to dinner and then
we saw Emmerson and had the usual crazy bash fest and then had one of
the weirdest lessons on my mission. We met this kid named Christopher
and his dad. They were both stoned out of their mind and the
philosophical type. Pretty wild! But they said we could come back to
teach them more!
Saturday-We had a Luau at the church and that took up the bulk
of our day getting it all set up and everything. We had a lot of people
show up! Unfortunately no investigators but that's ok! It definitely
built up some fellowship within the branch!
Sunday-We got someone to come to church!! Dave Giddens came!
We had been fasting this week to get someone to come. It seemed like no
one was going to come and we were about to give up and then Dave walked
through the door! It was awesome! He knew a bunch of people from the
Branch and said he was going to be coming back next week with his son DJ
and going to be staying for all 3 hours! I guess fasting does work!
Even if it sucks... Haha!
That's about it for last week! I'm excited to get my brand new companion on Wednesday!
