Monday-We went to the Manhattan Zoo with Brother Locklear. It was a pretty small zoo, but we still had fun! They had a pretty sweet leopard. Of course we had FHE that evening as always.
Tuesday-We
met a new girl named Tyra and taught her the Restoration and set her on
date for Aug 30th! We saw Leslie again and he hasn't really made much
progress (won't quit the cigarettes). We saw one of our new
investigators named Caroline who is just really ready for the Gospel but
we're having a hard time getting to really commit to anything and then
Chris who was probably still high from the last time we saw him.
Wednesday-Went
and tracted out a trailer park. Not a lot of luck. We found a couple of
flaky potentials and that was about it. Our apartment got inspected by
the housing missionaries finally! We showed them the gross black mold
and all of our apartment's problems. We will be getting a new apartment
if our lease is up, so we're really hoping that it is! We saw an
investigator named Jared (not the one who came to church), and he had a
lot of really good questions for us that I think we gave him some good
answers to. We had 4 people committed to come to a church tour and do
family history and no one came! That was a bummer.. Weekly coordination
meeting to finish up the day.
Thursday-We
saw Joel, talked a whole lot of sports and not a whole lot of gospel.
He promised next time we could teach him the Restoration before he
started talking sports though and said he's been reading the Book of
Mormon and has some questions for us! We were supposed to see Tyra again
today but that fell through, same with Michael. We saw Rodney and
committed him once again to read and pray and come to church. If nothing
happens this time we'll probably have to drop him.We had dinner with
the Taylors and their 17 year old son had his girlfriend, Joyce, over
and we taught the Restoration! It went really well. She has been coming
to church with them and reading the Book of Mormon. We invited her to be
baptized on the 30th of August and she said she would if she knows it
to be true.
Friday-We
had Zone Training in Manhattan and then some lunch. We went with the
Ward Elders to the Rec Center and played some pros ball. We were the
only white guys there! It was fun though! We had Brother Locklear take
us out to dinner and had some interesting deep doctrine conversation.
Afterwords, all of our appointments fell through and we weren't really
able to get any lessons in that night. We found out that Brother
Locklear is going to have to leave for Arizona next week for his job and
we are pretty sad about that. He was always willing to come out and
feed us dinner and teach lessons with us. He was a really cool guy!
Saturday-We helped some members move across town and
went to a Samoan BBQ. We saw Selena and committed her to come to church
and weren't able to get a whole lot of other lessons in. Lots of brief
contact with investigators just not able to teach them anything. We had
dinner with out Branch President and then saw Gary and finished up his
first new member lesson.
Sunday- Joyce came to church! That was it, but we
finally got someone there! After church Brother Nakasone, our branch
mission leader, came with us to see John. He's just really stubborn and
says he'll get his answer his way. The Aiono's had us over for dinner
and then Brother Aiono came with us to see Sean. We read some of the
Book of Mormon with him and he said he's finally feeling well enough to
come to church. So hopefully we'll see him there next week!
Well that's about it for our week! Everything is going good and we are working hard. Love you all!
