Here's me with some sweet fish at the Nature Center
Monday-For P Day we went to the nature center at the nearby lake. It was really fun and they had some cool animals there! Of course we had FHE on post later that night.'
Tuesday-We
had district meeting and then lunch as normal on Tuesday, then we went
and tracted in the nice area of town for a few hours. We only met one
guy who was very mildly interested. He said he might come check it out
in a couple years.. haha Then we had to go to the church and fill up the
baptismal font for a kid in the branch's baptism and we stayed to watch
that. Once that was over, we walked home knocking some random doors
along the way with not too much success.
Wednesday-We
saw Andre again finally. We haven't seen him in a while, come to find
out the cops in the area have been giving him some trouble. He committed
to come to church this Sunday though! We aren't able to get him to
commit to a baptismal date though.. mostly because he would have to
marry his girlfriend that he's living with first. We found a couple of
new potential investigators and then went to the Taylors for dinner.
Joyce was supposed to come for the second lesson but she didn't show up!
We'll keep working with her though. Hopefully we can teach her the
other lessons soon!
Thursday-
We went and did some service for the Neweys. They live in the Ward but
there Less Active son lives in the branch and he took us to go help. We
scraped all the paint off of the side of their house and then re painted
it a real nice purple color. It was pretty fun even though it was like a
100 degrees for most of the day, especially with the ward elders there
to help too! They had a pretty sweet bird that talked and would sit on
your shoulder. It freaked me out a little!
Friday-Lots
of finding today. We are on foot all week so it gave us a good
opportunity to knock on some doors in neighborhoods we usually don't
spend a lot of time in. We met a guy named Ryan at Candy and John's
house who was pretty interested! We gave him a Book of Mormon and
committed him to be baptized on the 13th of September! He'll be out of
town for a couple weeks though so that date probably won't happen but he
said he's going to read it while he's gone and pray about it! We had a
team up with a member from the branch and went and saw a less active
that talked to us for a good long while about her problems with the
landlord but we met her neighbor who seemed pretty interested!
Saturday-Met
some new people of varying interest level. I'll talk more about those
if they actually pan out to anything. Did lots more finding in the heat.
Lots of fun! Then we had dinner with the Childs family. They have a son
who is about to go on a mission and they sang us songs and played
guitar for us. It was a good dinner!
Sunday-Joyce
came to church again but we weren't able to talk with her at all. We
will just have to rely on the Taylors to get us another lesson with her.
Other than that, we didn't get anyone to come. Although we had quite a
few committed! After church, we went with a member named Brother Wells
to Manhattan to go to a meeting for the Flint Hills Pagan Association.
It was really fun! We were able to share the message of the restoration
with all of them and found a new investigator! Their topic for
discussion for the night was feeling different spiritually in different
places. We talked to them about how we believed everything to be created
spiritually before it was temporally thus making everything have some
kind of spirit. And how you could feel spiritually uplifted in nature
and of course talked about temples. It was awesome! There were a lot of
cool people there and they want us to come back!
Well it was a good week! Even if it was really hot
and we didn't have the car this week.. We are still looking for that
person who is ready to be baptized but we'll find him soon! Thanks for
