Weekly Email - 12/8/14

Me with the Travellers super cool St Bernard puppy

Hey Everyone!
Things are going well in McPherson! We're kind of working our teaching pool to death so we're going to be doing lots of thrashing this next week! We had a lot of traveling to do again, I guess I just need to accept that as the nature of this area.. haha
Monday-We went to Valley Center for zone p day and got the net schwappin' for about 4 hours. We came back into town and helped Bro Pavlovski make so more nativities that we are going to give to some of the people we are working with.
Tuesday-We had District meeting and lunch down in Newton. We went to lunch at a sweet Mexican restaurant and one of the new Spanish Elders, Elder Daines, probably had 6 baskets of chips all to himself. He is a eating champ! We had a teaching appointment with Ben and Kara and brought the Arnetts along. Kara really wants to come closer to God but just doesn't really understand a whole lot. She's a little slow and gets a lot of words mixed up like Elmo=Alma, Friction=Affliction, Finger of Speech and so on.. But she wants us to come read with her daily and I think that will help her start to understand better!
Wednesday-We did our service at the hospital but ended up helping some lady move out of her office to a new one so were there for a while. After that, we came back to the apartment had some lunch and weekly planning and set off to do as much as we could before we had to head down to Newton for some ward meetings at 6.
Thursday- We got to see JR one last time. He came home just to finish all his finals and then will be heading back to Arizona. He's gonna try to go walk on to ASU's football team so won't be coming back to school here. His mom is still not open to him being baptized and refuses to support him through school so he feels like he'll have to wait. It's really too bad! He's totally converted to the BoM and has already found out everything about the YSA ward he's going to go to. I think his mom will end up coming around. When we got back Bro Overton came with us to see an investigator named Ashley and her daughter that we have on date. She just needs to get church off on Sundays. Then we went to a funeral for a LA lady's son who hung himself. It was really sad. She hasn't been to church in years and years and isn't even on the ward roster here. Her whole family is active and were here and were very thankful that we were able to show up and offer some support from the church.
Friday-DL Accountabilites in Wichita! I think this is probably my favorite meeting. It's just the District Leaders and the zone leaders in our's and a neighboring zone with President and the Assistants. It's always really fun and we learn lots! Afterword, we had to go to the store so I could buy a winter coat and got a sweet deal on a nice one. Once we got back into town, we saw Ben and Kara and taught them the Law of Chastity and that they would either have to move out or get married to be baptized. It went ok, but they have some money issues with either so it will take some faith building to get them to act on it.
Saturday-Helped Bro Pav some more with the Nativities and then tried to go see Randy and Stacey. They let us in (don't know why) but were in the middle of a huge fight. Randy was stacking his bags us by the door and they were yelling across the house at each other. So we just slipped out when they weren't looking.. haha We just saw some other potentials throughout the day. Met a pretty cool new investigator and then went to dinner with the Scotts. They took us to Applebee's and I don't think I've ever been more full in my life! haha
Sunday-Went to church. Bro Traveller came again! Now we just got to get his wife to start coming with him.. We took the Sacrament to Sis Wilson (as always) gave Sis. Hunter a blessing, and then went tracting. We met another pretty cool guy who seemed really interested in the BoM. We had dinner at the Jumonville's and then watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional with them. Between the combination of a newly full stomach after fasting, laying on a recliner, having a blanket and a TV on in front of me it should come as no big surprise that I may have dozed off for a moment or two.. Elder Bradshaw just has a really comfortable shoulder! haha
Well that's about it for our week! I love you guys thanks for everything!
