Hello everybody! Things are going pretty well in the new area with the new calling! We are super busy which is good!
Monday-P Day. Played basketball and ping pong. As always! The Perry's had us over for dinner that night.
Tuesday-Last day in McPherson. We got to go see almost everyone I wanted to which was good and then we had dinner with the Traveller's. It was really good to get to see them one last time before I left!
Wednesday-Transfer devotional and then the drive to the new area. We didn't get back until kind of late but when we did we had a meeting with the STL's and then with the bishop.
Thursday-We drove to a town in the zone about 30 minutes away to drop some training materials off to some of the missionaries there and then did some training with them. After that, we did some weekly planning and then went to see a super crazy less active guy at his flower shop. After that, we saw a recent convert named John Hutchens. We're working with his kids right now to help them get baptized too. They are older, like in their 40's so we are hoping to have a lot of opportunities within their families as well. After that, we had dinner with the bishop.
Friday-We had a mid week accountabilities meeting with all the District Leaders in the zone and then saw a LA named Brother Matherly. He had some real concerns with the church and we were able to help resolve those a little bit and committed him to read a chapter from the BoM and to pray about it. We met a lady named Jessica and committed her whole family to come to church next week (5 people!) and taught them the restoration. We went to a baptism later that night and then taught a few other people!
Saturday-We had a couple lessons set up with John's kids that fell through. One of them is on date to be baptized next week and wants to but there's been an issue with paying tithing at the catholic church where her son wants to go to school and her husband doesn't want her to join now.. so hopefully we can help build her faith and soften her husbands heart. We met a couple new people but nothing too solid. We went to an African american presentation thing that they were having at one of the LDS churches here and a gospel choir from another church was there singing at it. It was super cool! I got to talk to the pianist for the group and had a really good discussion about the BoM and was able to give him one and he was super interested about learning more. Except he lives in Kansas City.
Sunday-We had no one come to church! Which was really lame because we had a bunch of people that were committed to come this week! But after church we took a very fresh RM on some team ups with us and that was fun. We met a lady who recognized us from the African American thing last night and taught her the Restoration. It went ok. Then we saw a girl named Janelle who really wants to quit smoking and help from god and put her on date for the 21st of next month. After that, we had dinner with some members and then saw a cool member named Sis. Stallworth. She has a nonmember daughter living with her and her boyfriend who were of date for March 28th but I think last night she was afraid of the changes she has to make and was super uncommitted. She's kind of crazy, she's been going to a bunch of the crazy gospel churches and I think she thinks those are more fun. We saw a LA named Becca who was a couple non member roommates who seem pretty interested and taught one of them last night, Dawn, and taught her the Restoration.
Well that's about it for our week! I'm loving Topeka and having the opportunity to serve as a Zone Leader!
Thanks for everything!
Love you all!
Elder Boman
