Weekly Letter - 6/23/14

Family, 

Things have been going pretty good in Junction City! Me and Elder Potter are getting along great and right now we have 8 people on date for baptism! Here's how our week went-

Monday-We had a good P day. Hung out, did some laundy, and hit up some thrift stores. We had family home evening on the base later that day. We try to get all of the single soldiers to come out to that so they can have some kind of fellowship.

Tuesday-We met some new people on the street and talked to one of the people we have on date, Rodney. He is a really chill guy and pretty cool. But he's a little too chill. He hasn't really been keeping any commitments so we are working on that! We saw another guy we are teaching named Dorian and his wife, Katherine. He is pretty interested and asks a lot of good questions so hopefully we'll get him a baptismal date soon! Brother Loban came out with us that night and we saw a couple of referrals that didn't work out and some old guy who didn't really know what was going on. It was kind of a weird night! haha

Wednesday-So we talked to some guy we met the other day, Frank, and started to teach him the Restoration but didn't have time to finish so we went back a little later in the week. We met some girl named Brittney, taught her the Restoration and put her on date! But we had to give her to the sisters, so hopefully they will able to keep teaching her! We had dinner with one of our neighbors and her family. She is really nice but we'll pass her off to the Spanish elders because she doesn't speak a whole lot of english.

Thursday-So we met with one of our potentials, Jimmie and taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ and gave him a baptismal date for the 12th of July! He is a heavy drinker and smoker and I'm not really sure if he's all there but he really wants to be baptized! We met with one of our other people on date named Twon. We helped him shovel up some dirt and then taught him the plan of Salvation. He's a really cool guy! He used to play running back and linebacker at K State. He's huge! Then we taught another guy we met the other day named Andre. He's really excited about the things we've been teaching him and wants to be baptized on the 12th too! He said he feels like he has a good relationship with god but didn't know what steps he should take and that we have been teaching him those! 

Friday-Biked forever away to the church and up a huge hill. Got ridiculously sweaty. And Andre didn't show up for his church tour! Then we biked down the huge hill and I got a flat. We had to walk my bike all the way across town and Andre's roommate said he went out of town! That was pretty upsetting! haha Then we walked around for a while trying potentials without any luck and finally saw Rodney again and committed him to church this week.

Saturday-Some cool member from the ward took us to lunch when he saw us out on the street so that was cool! Then we saw Frank again and taught him and his family the Restoration and put them all on date for the 12th of next month! He has some word of wisdom problems and him and his girlfriend aren't married so that may be a stretch but we have faith they'll make it! We went fishing with Jimmy and some of his buddies and committed him to come to church. We saw Gary, our recent baptism in the hospital (he just had a knee replacement) Then had dinner with our Branch President. Bro Nakasone, our ward mission leader came with us to meet the craziest guy ever to teach him the restoration. He's a huge black dude that is crazy at martial arts! But it went pretty well! 

Sunday-None of the people showed up to church! That sucked! After church we went and took Gary the sacrament and then saw some Less Actives. 

Everything here is going good!
