Well
the new area is going pretty good! I'm still getting used to it a
little bit. It's weird to actually be in a big city with lots of people
so it's kind of different than what I'm used to! Here's how my week went
Monday-P Day! pretty good last P day in Junction City. Had the typical FHE on post at night and that's always fun
Tuesday-Went
and saw some of our investigators before I left. Ray was doing awesome!
He was coming along really well and has been living the Word of Wisdom
for about a week. He was really committed when we talked to him last and
even wanted to take us to one of the World Series games with the Royals
(unapproved :().
Wednesday-Transfers!
Came down to Wichita to my new area and met my new companion Elder
Alspaugh. He's a good guy. He's only been out about 6 weeks and is going
to be a good missionary. We bike around like crazy here because it's so
big and I feel like sometimes we bike too much and don't proselyte and
talk to enough people. We saw the Mendoza family at night. The wife,
Angela, is really solid but her and her kids are waiting for the dad,
David, to make the decision to get baptized before they will so we have
been working really heavily with him. We got him to open up a little bit
about his feelings towards God and bore testimony about the BoM and how
he can have answers from God.
Thursday-We
saw one of our really cool investigators named Brandon who knows that
the BoM and the church are true but he just has to move out of his
girlfriends house. He probably is going to end up moving to Kansas city
or California with some family which is too bad but he says the first
thing he's going to do is get baptized! We found some other new
investigators and did lots more biking. At night we went and saw the
Canada family. They are a recent convert and part member family. The
mom, Tori, just got baptized and we are now working with the kids to get
them baptized but they have some very religious and anti Mormon family
members that are working really hard against us.
Friday-Saw
a sweet recent convert named Mike. He used to be in a gang and be a
rapper. He's a way cool guy but is still struggling with living the
gospel a little. We found a bunch of new potentials but no one too
solid, had dinner with a member, and then saw the Mendoza's again.
Saturday-We
saw Mike again and talked with him a little about the Plan of
Salvation. After that, we went to a wedding for a member who is marrying
a non member that will soon be getting baptized. Once the wedding was
over we did some more finding and found a pretty cool new investigator
named Justin and then went to dinner with our ward mission leader who
made his famous chili. We tried to see the Mendoza's again but they
weren't home and it fell through.
Sunday-Had
correlation, ward council and then church. After church we went to
dinner with some nice member ladies who haven't been in great health and
gave them a blessing. We saw the Mendoza family again tonight and
taught Dave the importance of prayer. at the end of the lesson before we
left, we got him to pray. It was really cool and after he said he felt
good and happy! We testified that that was the spirit and that God is
there to answer his prayers. Now we just have to get him to finally
commit to being baptized!
Well
it was a pretty good week this week! A little rough with transfers but
once I get used to the area and my new companion I'm sure it'll start to
get better! Thanks everyone for all your love and support! I love you
all!
Elder Boman
